Specialization

It took me a few weeks to figure out what I was actually doing for my specialization class, I knew I wanted to try photo illustration but I didn't know how I wanted to approach it. I finally decided I wanted to incorporate a few different techniques.

1. I will be taking the photos (obviously) I decided I wanted to take portraits of people and have them fill out a questionnaire to get a feel for their personality, and to be able to take some responses from that survey and be able to illustrate it some way onto the photo.

2. Instead of illustrating right onto the photograph I decided I want to do something called photo transferring. (Here is a video to show how it works)
I am going to take the photos and print it on this photo transfer paper and then transfer the image onto some other type of paper, at the moment I have tried bristol board and watercolor paper, but I also have not received this paper yet even though I ordered it a week ago. Right now I have been using just an image printed on photo copy paper and transferring it with a blending marker, this has resulted in the transfer being in black and white, which is really not what I want.

3. With the help of the Graphic Designer- Zach Fuhr, I will be screen printing images over the photo transfer. These images will be the illustrations that help portray the answers in the questionnaire. Here are some examples of what we have done so far (even though the transfers are black and white and hard to see) Also the image quality is low since it is only a photo from my phone, I will scan in the images at another time, maybe once I get the actual transfer paper and it looks how I want it to.

4. The last thing I want to possibly incorporate, are my hand drawn illustrations or "doodles" just to fill negative space. I haven't decided if I actually want to do it or not, I really wont be able to decide until the transfers look how I want. If I do decide to fill the negative space- an example of my doodles will look like this:
Let me know what you think!
